HON Phone for Android
Ro, here's how to get HON Phone on your Galaxy S25. About 10 minutes, once. The test S25 already rings, records and uploads. Now it's your turn ::)
Install between calls, not during one. Android can block installing a new app while you're on a call.
Install
- Tap the button above to download the file.
- Samsung's Auto Blocker stops apps from outside Google Play and the Galaxy Store. Switch it off just for the install, and back on a minute later: Settings › Security and privacy › Auto Blocker › Off.
- In Settings, search for Install unknown apps and allow the browser (or My Files) you'll open the file with.
- Open the downloaded file and tap Install. Play Protect may scan it first; let it. If it says the app is harmful, or blocks it, tap nothing else and send Linas a screenshot.
- Right after: switch Install unknown apps off again for that browser, and Auto Blocker › On. If you had Maximum restrictions on, turn it back on too. Do this even if the install failed.
- Settings › Apps › HON Phone › Battery › Unrestricted. Then Settings › Battery › Background usage limits › Never auto sleeping apps, and add HON Phone. Otherwise Samsung puts it to sleep and calls don't come through.
- Settings › Apps › HON Phone › Mobile data, and switch on Allow background data usage.
- Open HON Phone. Allow the microphone, notifications and full-screen calls. The app asks for each one.
- Copy the code from Linas's message (press and hold it, then Copy) and paste it on HON Phone's first screen. Typing it is easy to get wrong: I and l, O and 0 look alike. An invite code also asks for your name: type it the way he'll see it (for example Ro) and tap Pair. A sign-in code makes this phone you again: tap Sign in. In the app Linas is called Lee. Same person.
- Using HON Phone on your iPad too? One code works once, so your second device gets its own sign-in code from Linas. Only one of your devices rings: if HON Phone on the Galaxy says Another phone of yours rings for calls, tap Ring on this phone.
- The app asks Record your calls with Lee? and shows the full wording. Recordings would help the test a lot, but it's your choice, and installing the app doesn't agree to anything.
Calls
Linas calls you from HON Phone and it rings like any call. HON Phone doesn't replace normal calls or emergency numbers. Use your phone for those as always.
Updates
When there's a new version, Linas tells you and it appears on this page. Same route: Auto Blocker off, install over the app you have, then everything back on. Update it; don't uninstall it or clear its data, or the pairing is lost. Update between calls.
Thanks for testing ::)
